On June 17th - 19th, Dwayne Johnson's upcoming movie, Rampage, will be filming a big military scene in Chicago. Though the movie is set in Chicago, most of it is being filming in Atlanta, so the production is only expected to spend two weekends actually filming in the Windy City.
According to the city's filming permits and recent casting calls, it appears next weekend's scene will be a big one, with lots of first responders. The casting call is looking for "REAL MILITARY & NATIONAL GUARD", as well as "REAL POLICE."
Below is a look at two of the permits for next weekend's shoot, which describe the scenes being shot as "Soldiers and Police Evacuating the city" and "a Military Response over River." The shoot will include street closures and intermittent traffic control on several streets including Walton St, Clark, and LaSalle. On June 17, Wacker Dr will be closed from LaSalle to Lake St, too.
This weekend, June 9 - June 11, there will also be several street closures for Rampage, but most of these scenes will be aerial shots with "with low-flying helicopters." Here are details for the street closures taking place on June 9 - June 11 from a memo distributed to residents in the area:
Please note that S & K Pictures will be filming scenes for the movie “Rampage” in the area this weekend. The following streets will be affected:
10:00 PM Friday, June 9th through 4:00 PM Saturday, June 10th
· Both sides of Adams from LaSalle to Franklin – No Parking/Tow Zone
· Both sides of Wells from Marble Place to Quincy - No Parking/Tow Zone
There will also be intermittent street closures on Saturday, June 10th and Sunday, June 11th on Adams between LaSalle and Franklin.
There is no word yet as to which, if any, of the main cast will be in Chicago for filming. If you spot Rampage filming, let us know at [email protected]!
Rampage is based on the 80s arcade game in which players control giant monsters and earn points by destroying cities, while avoiding being shot by tanks and helicopters.
