The Walking Dead Filming in Senoia

A 15-foot-high wall is being built around a neighborhood in the small town of Senoia, GA, but it’s purpose isn’t as dramatic as it might seem.

The wall, which encloses about 10 homes and has been made to look like concrete, will be used in the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. The area will be yet another safe haven from walkers on the series.

Norman Reedus is going have a busy week.

Not only is his upcoming movie, Triple Nine, filming on location in Atlanta on Monday and Tuesday, but The Walking Dead is also scheduled to film on location in Griffin and Senoia, GA in the coming days.

This week the cast and crew of The Walking Dead is taking a well deserved break from filming season four in Georgia (Andrew Lincoln is taking full advantage of his vacation time by hanging out in the Caribbean with his family).

But, according to the notes from Senoia Georgia’s latest council meeting, they’ll be back to work soon.

The council approved a request from Stalwart Films for the AMC series to film between 291 Pylant Street and Gin Street for five days of filming which will take place sometime between Aug. 19 and Aug. 28. The exact days of filming are yet to be determined.

The AMC series The Walking Dead, which has spent much of the last few month filming in Senoia, GA, will film scenes tonight, 8/9, and tomorrow night, 8/10, on East Broad Street in Newnan, GA.

“All of the filming will consist of night work,” according to a City of Newnan press release. “There will be periods of sporadic, simulated gunfire, which will occur Friday night during filming.”

Yesterday, The Walking Dead returned to Senoia, GA where they’ve transformed a section of town into a safe haven from the zombie apocalypse.

Thanks to one of our readers, Kimberly, we have a few photos from yesterday’s shoot! In the photos you can see them setting up to film on top of a bus and some of the debris they’ve spread around to help transform the town.

This week residents in Senoia, GA may notice a few changes around town but the new structures aren’t permanent, they’re only props for The Walking Dead.

According to the show’s location manager Mike Riley, Senoia will serve as a sanctuary in the midst of a zombie apocalypse in the third season. “The town is walled off,” Riley said. “Inside the wall is a the safe zone and a benevolent dictator runs the town.”
