The AMC series The Walking Dead, which has spent much of the last few month filming in Senoia, GA, will film scenes tonight, 8/9, and tomorrow night, 8/10, on East Broad Street in Newnan, GA.
“All of the filming will consist of night work,” according to a City of Newnan press release. “There will be periods of sporadic, simulated gunfire, which will occur Friday night during filming.”

This week The Walking Dead returns to Senoia and Newman, GA where they will be filming on location through Thursday (mostly exteriors too from the sound of it).

Yesterday, The Walking Dead returned to Senoia, GA where they’ve transformed a section of town into a safe haven from the zombie apocalypse.
Thanks to one of our readers, Kimberly, we have a few photos from yesterday’s shoot! In the photos you can see them setting up to film on top of a bus and some of the debris they’ve spread around to help transform the town.

This week residents in Senoia, GA may notice a few changes around town but the new structures aren’t permanent, they’re only props for The Walking Dead.
According to the show’s location manager Mike Riley, Senoia will serve as a sanctuary in the midst of a zombie apocalypse in the third season. “The town is walled off,” Riley said. “Inside the wall is a the safe zone and a benevolent dictator runs the town.”

As we’ve reported, the hit AMC series, The Walking Dead, began building sets in Senoia, GA back in February.
And now we know why they started so far in advance of filming, which resumes for season three in May, – Senoia is going to be the show’s main location.
“Senoia will be a major set for next season,” location manager Mike Riley recently explained. “This (third season) is long-term. We’ll be here until November.”
And, unlike last season which was primarily filmed on location, this season much of the filming will also take place in studio at Raleigh Studio in Senoia, while other locations in the area will play a more minor role in the production.

The Walking Dead, which is currently on hiatus, will begin preparing to shoot their third season as early as next week.
The hit AMC series isn’t expected to begin filming again until May but, according to My Fox Atlanta, crews will begin building sets in Senoia, GA next week:

The Walking Dead, which debuted the first episode of its second season to record numbers Sunday night, is planning to shoot a big scene in Senoia, GA on Monday.
The shoot will take place at Eastside Elementary and will cause road closures at the intersection of Old Highway 85 and Luther Bailey Road from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
This season filming has shifted from metro Atlanta where much of season 1 was shot, to surrounding areas including Sharpsburg, Newnan and Griffin.
