Michael Bay may not have been able to shoot in front of the White House but he will get to shoot on The Magnificent Mile. Reportedly, Michigan Avenue in Chicago will be closed to both foot and vehicular traffic from July 15th at 8 PM to July 19th at 5 AM for the filming of Transformers 3. There are expected to be several explosions and car chase/ crash scenes shot during the period.

The bad news for fans is that the public is expected to be kept at a distance and will not be able to enter the area directly surrounding Michigan Avenue.

Currently, Transformers 3 is filming in Los Angeles and is expected to begin filming in Chicago on July 4. If you have any scoop about Transformers 3 filming locations, you can let us know at olv@onlocationvacations.com.

Director Michael Bay has begun filming the upcoming “Transformers 3” movie in Los Angeles, California. Known for his car chase scenes and his “awesome” explosions, he wanted to blow stuff up just a few blocks away from the White House – only to be denied.

According to the National Park Service, Bay wanted to stage a “car race” along the (National) Mall’s gravel paths and flood it with artificial light in order to shoot at night. He also wanted to simulate explosions and pyrotechnics at locations along Pennsylvania and Independence avenues.

For those who don’t know, Pennsylvania Avenue is where the White House is located.

The highly anticipated Michal Bay/ Steven Spielberg produced film, I Am Number Four, has been shooting in the Pittsburgh area for the past couple of weeks and now we have a look at where they’ll be headed next.

This week, DreamWorks was given permission to film in two Alegheny County Parks, Deer Lakes and North Park, beginning this week (presumably, they started filming at one of the parks today as they spent Wednesday and Thursday filming in Vandergrift).

While the Transformers series has so far been a mega hit at the box office, the movies have often been criticized by critics, who called the sequel “noisy, underplotted, and overlong special effects extravaganza that lacks a human touch.”

Recently, even the actors involved have criticized the movie, Shia LaBeouf commented “when I saw the second movie, I wasn’t impressed with what we did. There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone.”

According to LaBeouf, the problem was that they “tried to get bigger. It’s what happens to sequels. It’s like, how do you top the first one? You’ve got to go bigger.” And the problem with going bigger is that sometimes it just becomes too big, and you end up losing a bit of the relationships.

Check out a new interview with Shia after the jump!

bad boys 3

It seems as if Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will once again be fighting “Bad Boys” or at least according to Martin Lawrence. Lawrence has long said that he is very interested in “the opportunity to reprise his role in the series that catapulted his career”.

According to Martin Lawrence everyone is in, and they’re all waiting on Bruckheimer. As he puts it “Any time you can get Big Willie to come out and talk about doing a third installment of a hot movie like ‘Bad Boys,’ you have to take notice.” He furthermore adds “I met with Michael Bay , and he said he’s on board too — so it’s real…We’re just waiting on Jerry Bruckheimer to let us know when it’s really real.”

Michael Bay posted another update about Transformers 3 on his website today, including several additional filming locations:

Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I’ve always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”

We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.
