There has been a lot of speculation about if and when a 24 movie would happen, and now Deadline is reporting that it is definitely happening, and sooner rather than later.
According to the story, producers are planning on getting the film into production by April, as soon as Kiefer Sutherland wraps his current project, Touch.

Even though word on the street has been that the 24 movie may be in jeopardy, Kiefer Sutherland seems confident its going to happen.
In a recent interview with Extra he confidently said, “we won’t start shooting for about eight months.”
He added that the script is still being written but he expects that it will continue to be a work-in-progress throughout the shoot. “It’s a very difficult thing to take something that you’ve done for eight years, almost 200 episodes, and try and find a story that’s going to be unique and yet service the history of the show as well. That is to be expected. So we start shooting hopefully by next December or January,” he added.

• Kevin Smith released the first poster for Red State, which wrapped shooting in Los Angeles last Wednesday. Kevin explained on his blog that instead of having a pricey ad agency create the poster, it was designed by Melissa Bloom, who is the assistant of Jon Gordon, the movie’s producer. • Tower Heist, the new Ben Stiller/Eddie Murphy movie which is currently filming in midtown Manhattan, will also shoot in the Bronx County Courthouse rotunda this month. Yesterday, 20th Century Fox issued a statement that explained production on 24 had been temporarily suspended while the show’s star, Kiefer Sutherland, “undergoes a medical procedure.”
Kiefer is scheduled to have a minor surgery after rupturing a cyst near his kidney. According to USA Today, “the cyst ruptured while the actor, 43, was working earlier last week, but 24 production continued without its main star until Friday.”
Kiefer’s publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, said in a statement that “While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work next week.”
