Jake Gyllenhaal began filming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in Morocco this week.
This week Entertainment Weekly features a cool article about pop culture field trips or what we would call on location vacations. Be sure to read the comments too, we got a shout out!
There is a special premiere planned for Tropic Thunder in Kauai where the movie was filmed.
As Upstate New Yorkers this is the most exciting news of the week for us! Taking Woodstock begins filming next week on Route 20 in New Lebanon, NY. Route 20 is one of our favorite “Sunday drives” it is kind of like the Route 66 of Upstate NY. We will be visiting the set often so stay tuned for our reports!
Colin Farrell is filming his latest, Ondine, in and around the Beara peninsula in West Cork, Ireland.
The Fifth Mafia which was scheduled to film in Grand Rapids, MI this summer has been pushed back. The film stars another one of our favorite Dawson’s Creek alums James Van Der Beek.
This is just fun. What OLV is to movie locations this site is to movie mistakes. We feel as if we are kindred spirits as we are both pulling back the curtain a bit on the magic of Hollywood!

7.1.08 Filming News
Today they are holding the last casting call for Taking Woodstock in Upstate New York.

Edie Falco began filming Nurse Betty for Showtime in New York this week.
The SAG Contracts have officially expired.
Finally, we have had a few people ask if Farlanders is still in CT after our report from the set on Friday. We heard from a reliable source that they have wrapped in CT. We also saw a comment over at the Office Tally where someone saw John Krasinski on Saturday clean shaven so it looks like they have wrapped, at least for now. Also, the picture above was provided by Kelly who met John in May in Thomaston, CT at the Train Station. She agrees that he is very friendly! Thanks Kelly!

Sad news for set-jetters, the popular San Diego restaurant where Tom Cruise crooned in Top Gun was gutted by fire last week.
Extras are needed for Whip It, Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut. The film begins shooting in Michigan this summer.
Nacogdoches, Texas has become “film friendly” in an effort to draw film productions to the region.
Two more movies have been green-lighted to begin production this year in South Carolina.
Here is a cool blog documenting the last couple of days of Public Enemies in WI including a few nice shots of Johnny Depp.
Homes featured in the upcoming Tree of Life (starring Brad Pitt) are giving a boost to the housing market in Smithville, TX, another benefit of on location filming.
The first batch of films have been announced for the Toronto Film Festival.

Amelia has landed in Nova Scotia. Hillary Swank and Richard Gere have been in NS working on the biopic for the past week.
Two upcoming location announcements, Youth in Revolt will be filmed at several locations throughout Michigan and it is looking like the new A Team movie will shoot in Dubai.
There was a drive by shooting near the set of Public Enemies last week.
UPDATE: They are filming scenes for Entourage today in Las Vegas. Kevin Dillon was just on The View and announced he will be filming a scene later on today where his character Johnny Drama makes a publicity appearance on The View live from Las Vegas!

Last week we showed you how nice Tom Hanks is, well he has some competition. Johnny Depp told a young fan whom he met on the set of Public Enemies he could have Depp’s hat when filming wrapped and the star actually followed through! Public Enemies was filming in Lockport yesterday.
Last month we told you about a casting call fro extras in Michigan for a Lifetime movie, well the shoot was yesterday, here is how it went.

Film School Rejects has pictures and video from the Transformers 2 set at UPENN. (Spoiler Alert: there is a video of Bumblebee “doing his thing”.) If you are planning on checking out the Brooklyn Bridge shoot on Sunday, let us know, we are planning on being there too!
One Tree Hill and A Good Old Fashioned Orgy are both currently filming in Wilmington, NC. Nights in Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, was also recently filmed in Wilmington, NC, see the trailer here, looks travel inspiring!
