OPA Casting has put out two casting calls for the upcoming movie The Last Witch Hunter which will be filming in the Pittsburgh area from September 5th-December 5th.

1. Background extras, men and women over 18 who can portray an edgy, hipster look.

Date and time: Friday, August 15th from 5pm-11pm. Don’t call in advance or line up early, and the last person must be in line by 10PM or they will not be seen.

According to an exclusive report in the Pittsburgh Business Times, Russell Crowe‘s next movie, Fathers and Daughters, will start filming in the Pennsylvania city in April and will be there for three months.

Fathers and Daughters is described as being about a woman who struggles with relationship issues as she reflects on her troubled past with her famous novelist father. The movie also stars Aaron Paul and Amanda Seyfried.

After a slow winter, the film industry in Pittsburgh, PA is once again heating up as two high profile projects begin filming in the area.

Last week, Out of the Furnace, which was also known as Dust to Dust but now seems to be Out of the Furnace once again, has just started filming in Braddock, PA.

Out of the Furnace stars Christian Bale as an ex-convict attempting to return to society. Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Robert Duvall and Zoe Saldana also star.

On Monday, April 23, another A-List project, Promised Land, also begins filming near Pittsburgh through June 4.

Promised Land, the Gus Van Sant movie starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, is holding an open casting call for extras on Saturday, April 7.

Joan Philo Casting will be at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, 1000 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

They are looking for children 6 to 12 years old, teenagers, adults and senior citizens of all ethnicities to play the locals of a town, populate a big town hall meeting, portray waitresses and restaurant patrons, play baseball, and fill other fictional shoes.

If you plan to attend the open casting call, bring a recent color photograph.

Christian Bale is returning to the Pittsburgh area less than a year after wrapping up The Dark Knight Rises there last summer.

The Pittsburgh Business Times is reporting that director Scott Cooper will begin production on Out of the Furnace in Braddock, PA in April.

I think it’s tremendous,” said Braddock Mayor John Fetterman. “We’re deeply flattered that Mr. Cooper and Christian Bale and others with the production were adamant about doing it in Western Pennsylvania.”
