FAQ
How do you find out where movies and TV shows are going to be filming?
Most of our filming and event information is provided by other readers just like you. Most of the time, our readers hear about something filming “through the grapevine” or from a permit sign and then email the information to us and we promptly publish it in our upcoming filming locations and events calendar on the top of our homepage. We don’t have any affiliation with production companies, PR firms, celebrities or casting companies. We are 100% dependent on your help and appreciate every tip we get!
How do I submit pictures or tips?
You can email us at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
What is the point of this site?
We want to give people the opportunity to see their favorite celebs in person, be inspired to see new places where movies are filming and share information which is usually kept under wraps by “the industry”.
What do I do if I am on a movie set and I see a celebrity, can I approach them?
Please see our recent post on etiquette here.
Why isn’t (enter movie or TV show) filming at the exact location where you said they would be?
Sometimes information comes from permit signs or No Parking signs which only provide info for street closures, not exact locations. Read more about locations and permits here. Find out how to read a NO PARKING sign in NYC here.
I am going to be in (enter city here) on (enter far off date here). Can you tell me what movies will be filming and where they will be filming?
In most cases we cannot tell you tell what or where anything will be filming more than a few days in advance.
How can get tickets to a movie premiere?
Movie premiere tickets are usually by invite only and are only given to a select few. But, most premieres have a red carpet event beforehand that is open to the public, get there early though to get a good spot.
Where is Gossip Girl’s studio?
Gossip Girl films at Silvercup Studio in Long Island City.
Why can’t you tell me the exact time a movie or TV show will be filming at a specific location?
Again, most of our info comes from tips so we can only report what we know. For more information check out this recent post.
Why don’t you list the location for (enter TV or movie here) every day?
Since most of our information is provided by tipsters, we don’t always get information for a specific project but we do the best we can.
You suck! I went to the location you listed for (enter your favorite show here) and no one was there. Why did you tell me they would be there when they weren’t?
Again, our info is based on tips and is ALWAYS subject to change. Unfortunately, on RARE occasion someone will submit a “bad” tip but more likely the production’s schedule changed at the last minute do to unforeseen circumstances like weather, illness, etc.
Where is SVU’s studio?
SVU films in a private/restricted studio at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
How do I see celebrities at The Late Show with David Letterman?
The Late Show films at the Ed Sullivan Theater, 1697 Broadway Mon-Thurs and the show’s guests usually arrive around 5 p.m. through a side door on W 53rd. But get there early if you want to see them walk in, there is usually a crowd forming by 3.
Why do you have so many locations in NYC and not as many in L.A.?
First of all, we do have more tipsters in NYC (for now) so we naturally get more info from New York. Also, many productions in L.A. film almost exclusively in private studios which cuts down on the amount of tips we get as well.
