We’re Looking For Vancouver Tipsters!

We have been flooded with emails from Fringe fans who are in sightings withdrawal since the show left NYC and is now filming in Vancouver.

We would love to get a few tipsters in “Hollywood North” who could keep us up-to-date on where the show is filming! And you all know I personally love any updates I can get on my beloved Joshua Jackson.

Not to mention, a little movie called Eclipse begins filming in Vancouver in August and we’re hoping to get some help with that one too!

If you are in Vancouver and spot Fringe (or any other production) filming, please send us an email at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

In the meantime, even though they are the bane of my existence for stealing my information, Spoiler TV did have a few awesome set pictures from Fringe this week, here’s a look at a few, you can find more here. (Thanks to Rand for the head’s up!)  (Update: SpoilerTV and OLV are friends again:))

GG tour

In celebration of Ed Westwick’s June 27th birthday, On Location Tours threw a special edition of their Gossip Girl Sites Tour.

Two busfuls of wannabe Upper Eastsiders donned their Gossip Girl finest for a lookalike contest. Many Blairs, several Serenas, a Little J or two, and yes, one Chuck, struck a pose and vied for the prize of a fabulous Henri Bendel gift basket. The prize went to a lovely Serena lookalike, a vision in red.

In addition to the standard activities of the Gossip Girl Sites Tour, the group also enjoyed birthday cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery on the steps of the Met (where Blair and company hold court at lunch). A street performer even joined the fun, serenading the group with “Happy Birthday” on the saxophone before breaking into several Michael Jackson songs as the crowd danced along.

You can see more pictures from today’s event here!

On Location Tours Gossip Girl Sites tour runs Fridays and Sundays at noon. We have an exclusive offer for OLV readers! When you purchase your Gossip Girl Tour Tickets, use the promo code OLV09 and receive 10% off your tickets!

Are Miley Cyrus and Julia Roberts Headed To The Big Apple?

Miley Cyrus

New Yorkers may be seeing Julia Roberts and Miley Cyrus in the Big Apple this summer.

Miley Cyrus just wrapped The Last Song on Tybee Island, GA though filming should continue for a few more weeks in other locations. They were slated to film scenes in nearby Savannah but there has been no word on whether or not that shoot has started. Other possible locations include New York and North Carolina which are both settings in Nicholas Sparks novel. According to BN the book on which the movie is based is about, “Seventeen year old Veronica “Ronnie” Miller’s life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina.”

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts has started filming Eat, Pray, Love in India alongside Javier Bardem. The movie, based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestselling travelogue, follows the colorful adventures of a New York divorcee as she sets out on a journey of rediscovery, eventually finding love in an Indian ashram. It is expected they will film scenes for the movie in NYC sometime this summer.

Hot Topic: How Much Is Too Much When It Comes To Celeb “Stalking”?

robAs the debate rages on in various posts across our site this week, I thought I would set up a new post to debate where exactly we should draw the line when trying to get a glimpse of our favorite celebrities.

I’ll start with a confession. Once, many years ago, when Jimmy Fallon was still on SNL, I saw him outside of 30 Rock and what followed is what I commonly refer to as the “Jimmy Fallon Grab”.

I was much younger and much stupider, and foolishly grabbed his arm as I walked by him. I can still see it, in slow motion, I reached out and just grabbed him. I would never do that to a perfect stranger! But because it was Jimmy Fallon, who I had a major celeb crush on, I lost control.  It was completely inappropriate and, thankfully, he ignored it and I came to my senses before I was arrested! (Thanks to Jimmy Fallon for not calling the cops!)

So clearly, this is crossing a line, physical contact with strangers is not really popular in our society. But what about waiting outside a celeb’s hotel or apartment building? The Robert Pattinson fans seem to have pretty strong feelings about this one.

What about watching celebrities film a scene on a public street, most would think that’s ok until a celeb is, let’s say, chased by a mob of teenage girls. But isn’t that just part of the “fame game”?

Let us know what you think or what your experience has been.

And feel free to share your own embarassing celeb encounters!

J.J. Abrams Welcomes New Cast and Crew To Fringe Season Two

The following is a guest post from Satellitetvguru.net.

“Fringe”, which begins filming in it’s new hometown of Vancouver today, has recruited a new cast member. “Deal or No Deal” model Meghan Markle is joining the cast for season two.

According to Zap2It.com, “Markle, who has guested on “90210″ and a number of other shows, will have a recurring part on the FOX sci-fi series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She’ll be playing a young FBI agent who’s described as “attractive, brash and quick-witted.”

It sounds like Markle may be replacing Kirk Acevedo’s Charlie Francis. Acevedo was fired from the show, which he announced on his Facebook page at the end of season one, because the show wanted to focus on the core group of Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) and Walter Bishop (John Noble).

Fringe Television posted the letter that J.J. Abrams recently sent to Markle and all of the new cast and crew members in Vancouver welcoming them to season two. Wonder if he sent an equally cordial letter to those who lost their jobs in NYC thanks to the show’s move?

Leonardo DiCaprio Filming Latest Movie in Tokyo

Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi flick, Inception, has begun shooting in Tokyo. In addition to Tokyo, Inception, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, will also reportedly shoot in Los Angeles, London, Paris, Tangiers and Calgary.

Brad Pitt Film Shelved Days Before Shooting Was To Begin

Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt, was supposed to begin filming in Phoenix today but Columbia Pictures has dropped the ball on the Steven Soderbergh-directed film. On Friday, Columbia Pictures exec Amy Pascal placed the picture into limited turnaround giving the filmmakers a chance to set it up at another studio, with Warner Bros. and Paramount the prime targets. As of right now, it is uncertain what the future of the film will be.

Twin Peaks Home For Sale

A badly damaged Frank Lloyd Wright home, which was also a filming location in Twin Peaks, has been put up for sale by a foundation that is having trouble raising money and sees private ownership as the best way to save it. The 1924 Ennis House was severely damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

hempstead

This week, yet another production was filming at the Hempstead House in Long Island, NY. Boardwalk Empire, a new HBO series starring Steve Buschemi, is just one of the productions that has filmed at the Hempstead in the past year.  The house has also been featured recently in Kings and Royal Pains.

The Hempstead House is a castle located at Sands Point Preserve that has 3 floors, contains 40 rooms and an 80-foot tower. The house can can be toured daily, though there is no charge on Thursdays. The castle is no longer furnished but its architecture can still be appreciated and enjoyed.

strand

The Strand was also a hot filming location this week after Robert Pattinson was clipped by a taxi outside of the bookstore where he was filming scenes for Remember Me.  The Strand is one of NYC’s most beloved bookstores, featuring three floors of used and new books. It is also a favorite of location scouts and has been featured in several TV shows as well as the upcoming feature film, Julie and Julia.

Project Runway is Back in NYC!

Even though Project Runway’s Los Angeles-filmed season six episodes haven’t aired (on Lifetime) yet, they are already filming season seven,  in New York City!

Twitter was buzzing yesterday with sightings of the new cast, Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum filming at various locations including Central Park. We also got confirmation from several tipsters that they will return to Parsons for season seven too.

New York Magazine reports, “contestants are settling down in their new digs at the Atlas(66 W. 38th Street, at Sixth Avenue; previous contestants also lived here last summer). Our spy reports that yesterday a sign was posted by the elevators informing residents that the rooftop would be closed between noon and 9 p.m. — for the customary “arrival party with Tim and Heidi” scene, perhaps?? Later, around 5:30 p.m., our spy saw headsetted crew members enter the building with luggage that had tags indicating it had just arrived from JFK: “I asked them if someone was moving in, and one of them, trying to be discreet about it, said ’sort of.’” When directly asked, however, a crew member then confirmed that this was indeed all for Project Runway, and that contestants would be living in the building for the next five weeks.”

Its nice to have Project Runway back in NYC, especially after Woody Allen blasted the city for being too expensive to film in, but I’m still looking forward to seeing the L.A. season. “We have a challenge [in season six], the outcome of which will have the blogs going crazy!” Gunn said. “I’m surprised I didn’t need CPR when it all came down the runway, because I’m still in such a state of shock about it.” Can’t wait!

If you have any Project Runway sightings in NYC, send us a tip at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

RPatz Mania In The Media

rob-pat

Here’s a round up of some of the coverage of the craziness surrounding Robert Pattinson’s first days of shooting Remember Me in NYC. Hopefully, the fans will be better behaved as filming continues!

OK! says “Rob plays a young man who has just lost his brother to suicide, splitting up his parents and taking the joy out of his life. Co-star Emilie de Ravin plays his love interest, a woman who see her mother killed in front of her.” They also have 10+ pictures here.

Monica Gleberman, the NY Pop Examiner at Examiner.com, gives her first-hand account of Rob’s day on set Monday, saying, “Once the scene was done [filming], security had Pattinson walk back to his trailer causing mass hysteria. All of these young girls, older moms, men (you name it they were there) chased him down the street to his trailer.”

EW and the The L.A. Times both covered the hysterical scene on Monday as well, including links to OLV!
