Untitled Han Solo Project begins filming on Spanish islands

According to The Local in Spain, the upcoming Han Solo movie is filming on Spain's Canary Islands.

Scenes for the Star Wars spin-off will begin filming on the island of Fuerteventura next week.

The three-week shoot will start in Cañada de la Barca on the southern end of the island. A base camp has already been set up in preparation of filming.

The Untitled Han Solo Project is also filming in an area on the peninsula of Jandía. The popular tourist destination has been completely closed off until filming is completed. There is also a ban on using cell phones, drones, or cameras in the area.

When filming wraps up in the Canary Islands, the cast and crew are expected to move on to their next set, located in Italy.

The movie's cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Joonas Suotamo, Emilia Clarke, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Thandie Newton.

The Han Solo movie will hit theaters in 2018.
