Production on the movie Tammy, starring Melisa McCarthy, is in full swing today as shooting is taking place at 1601 Dawson St ( which is usually the restaurant Two Fat Ladies over a Simmering Pot but has been transformed into Topper Jacks for the film) and on Castle Hayne Rd in Wilmington, N.C.
Tammy will next film several scenes in the 1800 & 1900 blocks of Nun St in Wilmington on Tuesday, May 7 – Friday, May 10 and on Monday May 13, all day, each day. The scenes will involve a home that belongs to the movie's main characters and some walking/driving scenes in the neighborhood.
Tammy stars Melissa McCarthy as a woman who is having one of the worst days of her life when she is fired from her job and then finds out her husband is cheating on her. For her sanity’s sake, she decides to hit the road with her grandmother (Susan Sarandon) whose lesbian friend (Kathy Bates) joins them. Tammy meets a strange man (Mark Duplass) along the way and they enter into a relationship. Dan Aykroyd will play Duplass’ father and Allison Janney will play McCarthy’s mother.
Crews are also scouting locations in Brunswick County and Boiling Spring Lakes where several scenes are expected to be shot during the week of May 20.
They are still looking for extras in the Wilmington area, find out more about appearing the movie here.
