As we’ve mentioned, Ryan Gosling is prepping to film his directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster, and this week he’s continued rounding out the cast.
Christina Hendricks has already signed on to star in the film as a single mom of two who works at a fetish club and is “swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld.”
Two more actors have now joined the cast, Eva Mendes (Gosling’s real-life girlfriend) who will play a prominent figure at the fetish club and Doctor Who star Matt Smith who will play the male lead.
How To Catch A Monster will begin shooting in Detroit, MI in May.

I’m imagining that RG was inspired by Detroit’s ‘unique’ landscape when he was here last, acting for Clooney’s direction in Ides of March.
It’s got to be a fascinating spot to direct a movie, and probably inspires scripting just by virtue of its empty streets, gone back to fields, with gorgeous old wrecked buildings.
