Today is slated to be the first official day of shooting on Dead Man Down – a thriller about a wronged mobster grieving after he loses his wife and daughter starring Colin Farrell – in Philadelphia.

Farrell was just spotted doing some pre-production work in Rittenhouse Square Park last week.

The movie is expected to spend about 6 weeks filming in Philly, though it is set in New York City.

Also filming in Philadelphia this month is Political Animals, a new TV series starring Sigourney Weaver. The show, which focuses on a former first lady who is now secretary of state (sound familiar?), is expected to shoot in Philly from April 30 to mid-July. Carla Gugino, Sebastian Stan, Ellen Burstyn and Ciaran Hinds also star in the USA series.

Heery Casting is handling extras for both projects you can find more information on their Facebook Page.

If you have any scoop about where Dead Man Down or Political Animals is filming in Philadelphia, let us know about it in a comment below or via email at olv@onlocationvacations.com!

Just came back from being in the city and they were filming on Walnut Street. It was interesting to see how much work they put in for minor scenes just as cars going down a street
