Today Emma Roberts was spotted at Phoebe’s Restaurant in Syracuse for the first day of filming on her new movie Adult World.
The movie will be moving quickly from one Central New York location to another (they had moved on from Phoebe’s to a second location by 10:30 a.m. today) due to their tight 22-day schedule.
The scenes shot at Phoebe’s were a coffee-shop scene (Roberts tries to buy a cup of coffee at a takeout window but doesn’t have enough cash) and a restaurant scene.
The movie will be set in Syracuse, it is not just filling in for another city, so they will be capturing as much of city as possible, including parts of Syracuse University and surrounding communities.
Adult World stars Roberts as a poet who finds herself working in an adult bookstore to support herself.

They were filming outside the colella galleries and in front of the pen and trophy center near the salina street/willow street intersection today around lunch time.

They’ve been shooting for 2 days now directly across the street from my house! Here’s hoping that I am not in one of the shots coming in and out of my own driveway!

They are primarily filming in Syracuse but I heard thy would be filming in other others too, at least for a couple of the days, like I heard a rumor they might be shooting in Cazenovia.

Any new sightings? I’ve seen the yellow AW signs around Carrier Circle and in the area of State St. downtown today. I’d like to watch some of the filming if anyone has any scoops on where they will be next.
thanks Steve, did you see where they were filming or just the sign? I drove all over yesterday and couldn’t find anything, the paper had said they might be back at the N Salina St location but they weren’t…anyone else spot anything this weekend?
I’m surprised I haven’t even seen anyone talking much about it on Facebook or anything, they be keeping a low profile….
I’ve only seen signs… I followed the signs out from the hotel and around Carrier Circle to Thompson Rd. I stayed on Thompson to Erie Blvd. and did not see another sign until I came to the intersection of State St., where I had seen a sign off to the right at the intersection of State, Burnet and James Streets. I drove around for a few blocks but didn’t see anymore signs… I don’t know if it was an old sign or maybe they simply had not been there yet. Possibly shooting only a street scene there? No signs of activity on North Salina either. Nobody seems to be talking because there is nothing to say… nobody has seen anything. Why so secretive cast and crew? We are interested in your movie!

I noticed on my way to work this morning that the signs that I had seen on Carrier Circle are gone now. I think that it’s pretty clear that the cast and film crew do not want to be bothered… If they wanted spectators they would post their shooting schedule.
I’m not an autograph hound or anything like that myself… I just thought it would be fun to watch some of the filming…
Hi. My friends and I were wondering if anybody knew where the stars were staying?
I heard they rented apartments or town houses for some of the cast- but that is hearsay…it has been so hard to determine what is true and what isn’t…if I hear for sure I’ll let you know…

Here’s a tip for you! Westcott St. between Harvard and Hawthorne will be closed Wed., (tomorrow), Thurs. & Fri. (beg. at 6:30, 7:30 and 10:30am respectively) for filming.

Not sure on Sunday, they will def. at SU we saw them film several scenes this afternoon, posting pics now. There were no signs around but surity had the road blocked so it was hard to miss they were right near Newhouse
Well… so far I’ve been to N. Salina at least five times, I’ve been downtown twice, I missed out on Westcott due to work, I drove around SU campus four times yesterday and could not find a place to park and didn’t even see anything because I was apparently too early, I was in Eastwood on four separate occasions today and now I just heard that they filmed there a few hours ago…
I’m about ready to give up…

They were filming at the intersection of James Street and Woodbine Ave just past Subway in Eastwood. They were still filming at 6:30 p.m. at the bookstore on the corner of Woodbine.

For extras they only held one casting call, I think they using mostly of SU students. I would try contacting the Syracuse Film Office, I think they arranged the open casting call and may be able to give you a contact name or # for someone with the movie who can help you out:

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that they might do some shooting at the “Adult World” bookstore on Erie Blvd. At least maybe some second unit stuff.

Nicole, I’m guessing that they will remain filming at the 700 block of North Salina Street for the rest of the week. They may be shooting indoors though… The green and white store front next door to Jimmy’s Saloon serves as the “Adult World” bookstore.
