In the world of award shows, filming locations rarely get the props they deserve. But this year that all changed when Paul Giamatti gave a shout out to Montreal, the city where Barney’s Version, the movie for which he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy, was shot.
During his acceptance speech tonight, he acknowledged the films crew, “up in an incredable, beautiful city, Montreal, an incredable place in a great nation- Canada. I salute the great nation of Canada.”
Barney’s Version was filmed in Montreal in the fall of 2009.
Though Paul’s film was shot in Montreal, The Social Network, which won for Best Motion Picture: Drama, and The Kids Are All Right, which won the other big prize of the night, Best Motion Picture: Comedy Or Musical were both shot in Los Angeles (with a few scenes for The Social Network being shot in Massachusetts & Maryland).
