Gerard Butler may be hanging out in Hollywood this weekend, but soon he’ll have a whole new stomping ground- Melvindale, MI. The actor is set to start filming his next project, Machine Gun Preacher, in the city from July 8 to 28.
Locations will include a trailer park in town and Jake’s Crossroads Bar, 2704 Oakwood Blvd.
The movie is based on the true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing biker who found God and became a crusader for hundreds of Sudanese children who were forced to become soldiers.
Wonder if Gerard will be stopping to kiss any babies or pet any pups while he’s in town?

The film crew and all of their equipment is set up at Melvindale’s Elementary. (Allendale Elemantary)
They will only be at this location till Thursday morning. I work at this elementary school. It’s pretty exciting!

I drove home from work down Dix yesterday and they still had a huge set up at the trailer park. One of the trailers was on it’s side, attached to some sort of crane. Until I read this, I thought it was some sort of tornado movie! : )

Melvindale in the movie? I’m not sure they picked the best parts of Melvindale to be in the movie. Every city has it bad parts.
