Hi again OLV peeps, it’s Pandora. For the past several weeks “The A-Team” has been filming in and around Vancouver – most recently Downtown. The film is about a group of Iraq War veterans trying to clear their name with the US military who suspect four men of committing the crime they were framed for.

While ‘1st unit’ was up in Burnaby shooting at Mammoth studios, the film’s ‘2nd unit’ had the 400- 600 blocks of Burrard St in Downtown Vancouver closed off for stunts. We got there around 3pm to find a crowd of passersby gathered to watch who, the popular presumption was, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson dangling along the side of a building….however our money is on his stunt double – seeing as the stunt took place 20 odd stories above street level.

The scene was shot across the street from the Burrard location of Cactus Club Cafe on the corner of Dunsmuir- I have to say that despite not getting to really talk to any of the crew or getting close up to the action it was kinda cool….or it’s just me being a nutter for being close to a film crew as usual :P

For those of you that aren’t familiar with film jargon; the ‘2nd unit’ is the team that shoots footage which is of lesser importance for the final film, as opposed to the ‘1st unit’, which shoots all the scenes involving the stars of the film. In this instance, “A-Team”, being an action film, the 2nd unit was filming a scene in Downtown Vancouver that would have been seen as too dangerous and expensive for the 1st unit to shoot (busy intersections and whatnot).

Okay, educational break over… back to the commentary! I was hoping to see Liam Neeson because I’ve got a bit of a bone to pick with that guy….I’d previously chosen him to be the target of my unrest (anyone that knows me on FB is familiar with my rants on this subject)…for the past few weeks I’ve been hearing the movie’s damned explosions at all hours of the night which disrupts my difficultly won calm. :P

Now I’ll tell you something: I’d gone so far as to wander around the West End of downtown after downing a hearty amount of vodka one night only to be taunted by the echoes of their explosions and gunfire against the tall buildings. Then, the day I do finally find them, they’re filming on a damned rooftop in Coal Harbour – the outrage cannot be put into words Mr. Neeson!!!

I must admit that after finally finding them in an accessible location today, albeit sans Liam, I’ve forgiven them – that stunt was the coolest thing I’ve seen filmed to date. Unfortunately, I don’t have much else to report – but I’ve got one hell of a gift to make up for it. Here are a few clips of the stunt being shot on Saturday.
