In today’s post we’ll see some of the most famous past Movie Locations in present time!
Most of these locations are in New York City but obviously with new posts and images, you will see pics from all over the world.
So get ready and fasten your seat-belts for this First Part of “Movie Locations: In Films Then and Now!”

Today’s first picture is from 1995’s Die Hard with a Vengeance (or Die Hard 3), an action-movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis. The scene in the picture is from the first part of the movie, where Agent McLane and Samuel “Taxi Driver” Jackson have to answer the phone in front of 72nd St Station.
The Location is obviously the Subway Station on 72nd St @ Broadway, and in the background you will notice the famous Gray Papaya which is also in You’ve Got Mail.
And, speaking of You’ve Got Mail (a 1998 romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks), here is what remains of The Shop Around the Corner, the bookstore that Meg Ryan owns in the movie. You can find it at 106 W 69th St, at the corner with Columbus Ave.

Let’s move on, because the next locations is going to be more familiar. We’re in Washington Square Park North, number 11, to be exact, where Robert Neville (Will Smith) lives in the apocalyptic movie I Am Legend. The movie, shot during 2007 in NYC, was filmed in short shots (the crew blocked a block at the time for maximum 2 hours), to obtain the deserted look of NYC that you see in the movie. Some sequences (like the Times Square one, for example), were instead created with CGI.

For our next location let’s go back farther in the past. We’re in 1999, and the comedy-prince Adam Sandler hits NYC with the new Big Daddy movie. The film is really funny: Sandler, adopts the young Julian and brings him to Central Park to see skaters fall. I finally found the location, its Central Park North-West (108th St), in front of the Harlem Meer you’ll find this little space, where the homeless Steve Buscemi even crashes with his shopping cart.

Today’s last location is an homage to the city’s lovers. We’re obviously talking about the Ghostbuster HQ, that is the 8 Hook and Ladder fire-station at 14 North Moore Street, downtown in the Tribeca area.
This fire-station was used just as the exterior (the interior is a Fire-Station in Los Angeles).
This is it for today. Don’t worry, I’ve got many more pictures to show you soon, from movies such as Zohan, The Pink Panther 2, Twilight and many more.
Please let me know what you think about this column and which movie location you would like to see in the next posts by leaving a comment below.
See you soon.
