Oops.

A few major media outlets, including Zap2It.com, picked up on the rumor we inadvertently started yesterday that “The Arrested Development Movie” had begun shooting. Of course, early in the day we realized there had been some confusion and that the filming taking place in Madison Square Park was not for that “Arrested Development.” The information was quickly corrected in the post and in the comments but not before the it hit Twitter and subsequently went viral.

We’re still not convinced the project didn’t have something to do with the “Arrested Development” based on reports from two readers who stopped by Madison Square Park to check it out:

“Hey, i just passed by the Arrested Development shoot which is labeled as the “AD Project” (hush, hush) and the crew member i spoke to said that it was somehow related to Arrested Development but that he wasn’t quite sure how…That’s all i know! They were shooting though and i didn’t recognize any of the actors, though one of them kind of looked like Idol winner Kris Allen”. -Jean Dot

“…went by there and a crew member said that michael cera is not going to be in it. the crew member also said that the reason it is called AD Project is because michael cera owns the rights to the title”. -Mary

The New York City Mayor’s Office doesn’t list anything currently filming that fits the “AD Project” found on permits around the park. We suspect it may have had something to do with the Arrested Development Documentary which still appears to be a work in progress. You can check out the movie’s trailer below:

UPDATE:

I noticed today (6.11) that the NYC Mayor’s office does have a film listed as Arrested Development filming right now in the city. Interesting.
