This may be the final nail in the coffin for Lipstick Jungle fans still holding out hope that the show would return this fall. It also means another NYC filmed series has bit the dust.
Andrew McCarthy, who starred in LJ, has been cast in the new Gossip Girl spin-off. Interesting casting choice since the show is set in the 1980s and of course McCarthy was a huge star in the ’80s, appearing in films like St. Elmo’s Fire and Pretty in Pink.
Looks like two of Lipstick’s other stars, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price have also recently been cast in new ABC pilots. But even with this casting news, NBC has been reluctant to officially announce the cancellation of LJ. Some speculate the show’s demise has less to do with ratings and more to do with Jay Leno who will be taking over the 10 p.m. slot on NBC Monday-Friday.
