Travel Inspiration: Quantum of Solice

Hands down, the most travel inspiring movie of the year is Quantum of Solace. The latest James Bond flick is a dizzying ride around the world. Filming locations include Chile, England, Mexico, Austria, Italy, Panama, and Spain.

Filming began in January in the studio in England and moved to Chile and Panama in February and March. Making the movie in so many locations proved to be an adventure in itself.

According to The James Bond Dossier, in one quite bizarre incident in Sierra Gorda in the Antofagasta region of Chile, the local mayor caused an on-set incident. Upset at his county being portrayed as Bolivia and claiming that the producers had not requested his permission to film there, he drove his car onto the set where Daniel Craig and Olga Kurylenko were filming a scene; he was immediately arrested for trespass, but released shortly after.

If you don’t find travel inspiration in Quantum of Solace, nothing will inspire you. Check the movie out in theaters now and for travel information to any of Bond’s favorite destinations, check out Lonely Planet.
