The Taking of Pelham 123, starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington is filming today at 58th and Roosevelt Ave in Queens, NY. Thanks to one of readers, Janet, for the tip! Here’s an article with more locations that have been scouted for the movie.
Preparations have begun in downtown Columbus, WI for Public Enemies. The movie, starring Johnny Depp, will begin filming in the next couple of weeks.

Another film, She’s Out of My League will being filming in Pittsburgh on March 31st.
It is also official the new Terminator movie, starring Christian Bale, will be filmed in New Mexico.
2.28.08 More Casting Information From Boston

Boston Casting will be holding an open call on for extras for the movie, Mall Cop on Saturday, March 1st, 10:00 Am to 4:00 PM at The Hilton Garden Inn, 5 Wheeler Rd, Burlington, MA. They are also holding a casting call tomorrow 2/29 from 2-6 PM. Please see their site for more details on this call and contact information. We have also learned they are casting for a beautiful Latin women between 20-30.
Mall Cop will be filmed at Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA(about 15 miles north of Boston). Filming begins in April!

As we reported last week, Richard Gere was on the URI campus yesterday filming a scene for Hachiko: A Dog’s Story. Several students got the opportunity to play extras in the scene, for more on the day’s shoot check out this article.

USA Today has a comprehensive list of hotels around the world that have been locations in famous films.
It official, the Hannah Montana movie will be filmed in Columbia, TN. Filming begins May 1st.
South Carolina announced new incentives to lure filmmakers to the state.
News 2.26.08 Ashecliffe Filming News
Location Scouts for Ashecliffe have been looking at locations in Nahant, MA. Confirmed locations include Boston, Medfield, and Taunton. We have heard reports that the cast has already arrived in Boston leading us to believe filming may begin as early as next week!

On a side note, we are so excited for Tilda Swinton who won last night’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar! We met Tilda at Sundance and on the NYC set of Burn After Reading, she deserves it!
Oscar’s Best..Filming Locations

In leau of a newsletter this week we will be taking a look at the locations used in this year’s most nominated films.(But watch for our next newsletter when we will debut a few of our new t-shirts and accessories!) The locations of the Best Picture Oscar Noms are as diverse as the films themselves. From Juno’s “everytown” Vancouver locations to the English Mansion used in Atonement the locations are such an important part of this year’s crop that they are deserving of their own nominations. Since the Academy won’t honor them, we thought we should.
Juno was filmed primarily in Port Coquitlam, B.C. This is where you will find the convenience store used in the movie and Juno’s house. The house that captured the yuppie lifestyle of Vanessa and Mark belongs to Mary Samuel and is located on Eddington Dr in Vancouver. (Also note this article has some location info for the Jen Aniston movie currently filming in Vancouver.)
Vancouver has become Hollywood North because of its diversity and tax breaks. For more of what is filming in Vancouver now, check the city’s website.
Filmed primarily in New York City, the film’s other locations include Cromwell,NY and Blooming Grove, NY.
The first half of Atonement takes place at the Stokesay Court, a privately owned estate in the South Shropshire countryside. Though you can not stay on the grounds, they are now allowing tours of the mansion. No Country For Old Men & There Will Be Blood
Not far from the U.S. Mexican border, the unassuming town of Marfa, TX has landed in the limelight of Hollywood after two of this year’s Best Picture Nominees were filmed there,No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood. Marfa is the perfect home for on screen desolation. This is not the first time the small Western town has had a brush with Oscar. The film was also featured in Giant in the 1950s. Hollywood has treated Marfa well, restoring buildings and pumping money into the local economy which pleases most residents. For those of you headed to SXSW next week, Marfa might be a fun and nostalgic detour.

The Hannah Montana full length feature will be filmed in Tennessee.
Anytime is now filming in a vacant house in Donaldsonville, LA which located on the Mississippi River just west of New Orleans.

The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past was filming on South St in Boston yesterday, here is a link to more pics from the shoot.
In other Boston news, it looks like the Leonardo DiCaprio has arrived in town to begin filming Martin Scorsese’s Ashcliffe. He has already been spotted at the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common.
Today is the last day to catch Richard Gere filming in Woonsocket, RI. Monday the production moves to the University of Rhode Island in Kingston. Filming in RI was such a positive experience that producer Bill Johnson plans on funding 18 more films in Rhode Island over the next 3 years.
Justin Timberlake begins filming Open Road in Houston on Tuesday.

The two movies they are casting are The Proposal and Mall Cop. Both begin filming in Boston in April!

The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past continues filming in Boston. Yesterday one of our readers saw them filming a scene in Sonsie Restaurant on Newbury St! Here is an article with more from yesterday’s shoot. There have been several sightings of Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey around town. We have learned that LDI Casting is casting extras for the film. There are no open calls scheduled at this time but you can register on their site.

In other news..
Here is a shot of Richard Gere on set in Rhode Island.
New Mexico is gearing up for its biggest production ever. Details have not been released but we know the film will be made near Albuquerque and the budget is set at $185 million. It may be Terminator 4 but that has not been confirmed, stay tuned!
